What is a 'store bought' CDs' format?

I bought an OEM version of Nero (which is expiring - I guess I need a code number). I have learned how to download and copy mp3, but would like to make CDs for friends to play in their car - in “normal” CD format. What is “normal” CD format called? Can I use my mp3 playlist to make CDs in a format that any CD player can play? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

the format is called “Audio CD” and yes nero is capable to decode mp3 and burn an audio cd.
Just select Audio CD in the “New Compilation” window and add the mp3 files to the window on the left.

When you add the Mp3 files the program will automatically estimate the space that they will take up so that you can see how many files you will get onto the CD.
