All three discs have some discolouring from the centre, I don’t expect extraordinary longevity from those

I just purchased a Sandisk 1TB SSD to update my old RagingPC that I built with my son in 2009.

I haven’t done anything to it since the last upgrades in 2011.

Put a fresh install of Windows 10 on the new drive. Left Win7 on the old one. I automagically ended up with a dual boot system…Microsoft lets me choose.

Oh, and HI everybody, it seems I haven’t been on here since November 2015.

Maxell DVD-RAM 5.2 GB, will a standard drive be able to record to it after removing from the cartridge?

Planet Earth II, Blu-Ray + 4K UHD edition, when winter comes I will have something to test UHD “friendlyness” of my LG drive

Probably not. I think DVD-RAM V1.0 will not be supported by writers of the last 10 years

I just tested all of my drives, and you were right - in best case they could identify the disc, but not write to it. All PLDS/LiteOn drives detected the disc flawlessly, most TSST drives failed except for one slim model. Below some info about the disc:

Just wonder why it detects a write speed without MID

I have no idea, all drives reported same info in ImgBurn except for burning speed (most of the drives tested reported only 2x).

I guess the most drives don´t support 1x for DVD-RAM. My oldest DVD-RAM are 2x, AFAIK this speed is the lowest speed for DVD-RAM V2.0

A JBL Flip 4 (black) and also a 2TBextrenal Toshiba HDD for mass storage.

The Godfather DVD Collection

And some blanks:

TDK DVD+R 16x lightscribe, MBIPG101-R05-01, MII

TDK DVD-R 16x, TTH02 but with MBI-like hub code, 6049 539 -R E D 17819, no origin mentioned on packaging. Did MBI produce media with TTH02 MID?

Yes, they did. Those media are likely of decent quality.

Good to know, would you consider those better or worse than Verbatims MCC 03RG20 for archival purposes?

Today it was time to make a burn
Philips DVD+R 1-2.4x made in Taiwan, RICOHJPN-R00-01
Pioneer DVR-116D @2.4x, ImgBurn (I didn’t keep the burn log, but drive stopped twice or three times during the course of burning), looks good to me

Yep, good old media.

Is the rated speed really 1x-2,4x? DVD+R(W) came later to the market than -R(W), I don´t know any DVD+ media with lower speed than 2,4x
