so now i wonder VERY hard wth the difference between those 2 is… (B7M9 and G7M9)

does anyone know?

is there a physical difference between my bulk drive and the retail?

which one is the best to install…

are there of this latest firmware any hacked firmware’s that u guys advice very hard? (i dont wanne take big riscs, or have extra fast low quality writing strategy’s though ;), but if there is something like a regiofree firmware or something)

As far as i know the bulk and retail drives are identical. The retail drive however has more support from Benq, like the new B7P9 firmware, which is not available as G series firmware.

Go to this thread for instructions about flashing your bulk to retail :

THX ALOT for the tip Hermy H!

it seems to have worked…

still have 1 lil question left:

1600-1620_B7M9.zip
B7M9.zip

do these have the same effect in the end?

do they both load the exact same firmware into my dvdwriter?

cause their filesize is different…

thx

The 1600-1620_B7M9 file is the free update from Benq to add dual-layer capabilities to the 1600 drive, thus converting it into a 1620. The other file is the regular firmware update for real 1620 drives. No need to worry about the firmware in your drive, it’s all ok. You might want to flash to B7P9, then you have the lastest and the greatest, like newer write strategies and 4x dual-layer support.
