Using decrypter and mcc004 (verbatim 16x) I cant hit 16x, and at around 12-13x the buffers goes nuts and go down. It wont go past 13x when burning a 4.5GB dvd. I really need help on this. What can be causing the issue?

Very helpful as usual.

i think something in your sys is limiting it pass 13x…whats the burst rate thru nero cd-dvd speed???

#7

LG its 25
NEC its 26
and BenQ1620 its 25
so thats OK, have you ever heard of this issue happening with a software conflict?

Your system specs looks good… and 865PE is good and stable chipset, have it myself.

The only thing that comes to my mind is about if you have installed latests $ntel INF files (southbridge IDE-drivers and more).

Also check you don’t have $ntel application accelerator runing in background.
You don’t need to have this app. installed untill you enable RAID function (“on chip SATA”) in BIOS.

BTW, run my transfer and burst test (sig) and all your system weaknes will be enveiled.

Unfortunately I have no more 16x disc tonight. Which is too bad. I never noticed your test before and Im very upset at this problem. I will try it ASAP, but now I think I will reinstall windows because Im at a loss.

Well just before I went to reinstall my OS, I was picking around in BIOS and I changed the IDE “arrangement” to auto instead of “combined” or “enhanced” and it seems to make it better.
I dont have any more 16x discs left, but I do have some TY dvd+R 8x, which burn at 16x on 2 of my burners. Heres the text, what do you pros think:
I 22:58:18 Destination Device: [3:1:0] _NEC DVD_RW ND-3500AG 2.18 (F:) (ATA)
I 22:58:18 Destination Media Type: DVD+R (Disc ID: YUDEN000-T02-00) (Speeds: 2.4x, 4x, 6x, 8x, 12x, 16x)
I 22:58:18 Destination Media Sectors: 2,295,104
I 22:58:18 Write Mode: DVD
I 22:58:18 Write Type: SAO
I 22:58:18 Write Speed: 16x
I 22:58:18 Link Size: Auto
I 22:58:18 Test Mode: No
I 22:58:18 BURN-Proof: Enabled
I 22:58:18 Filling Buffer…
I 22:58:19 Writing LeadIn…
I 22:58:41 Writing Image…
I 23:04:01 Synchronising Cache…
I 23:04:02 Closing Track…
I 23:04:17 Finalising Disc…
I 23:04:39 Operation Successfully Completed! - Duration: 00:06:17
I 23:04:39 Average Write Rate: 13,997 KB/s (10.1x) - Maximum Write Rate: 21,243 KB/s (15.3x)

Not 16x but they aren’t rated at 16x, so thats close enough right? The 16x verbatim were only hitting 13x before.

or is it a media problem?

#12

It can’t be media…Has to be something else.

Bump.
