What does "error" means in Kprobe2?

I used Kprobe2 to test CD-R disc quality. But now I have a question which confuses me.

In my Attach Files:
The result has no c2 errors. But at the right-down chart (status chart) it has 6 errors. My main question is what does the “error” means? Does this mean the disc has bad sectors ???

Thanks.

Best Regards,

The number of ‘errors’ does not refer to the number of errors on the disc.

These are generally caused by IDE related problems, such as other applications scanning the IDE bus. This will interrupt the scan and cause these ‘errors.’

Even Windows Explorer can cause such errors. There are many other random programs that will do it as well. I think my e-mail software (Pegasus Mail) does it.

Jamos, can you specify which message in that thread you’re referring to?

I too get some ‘ERRORS =x’ when doing a dvdr scan. I’ve read part of that thread, and have attempted to search for an answer to what this value refers to. Below is the results.txt file generated after a scan.

Date : 1/8/2005 0:03:58
Model : 2-0-0-0 Y:SONY DVD RW DRU-710A BY01
Disc : DVD+R , RICOHJPNR01 [Ricoh Company Limited]
Speed : 4x
ECC blocks sum (PI/PIF) : 8/1
Scanned range : 0 - 2262951
Sampling count : 61971
Errors : 2
PI Max : 5
PI Average : 0.09
PI Total : 1344
PIF Max : 2
PIF Average : 0.01
PIF Total : 107

Note the Errors : 2 above .

Thanks
