What do these 4 letters mean?

vbimport

I am interested in buying a SH-S182M. I have found the following:

SH-S182M BEBE
SH-S182M BEBM
SH-S182M BEBN

The bebm indicates vista ready (software?)

bebe and bebn don’t say anything.

Samsung’s support site just shows the SH-S182M burner. No suffix. Only 1 firmware for this model. These 3 models differ in price by $1-$5.

Is this all about the software version?

Very confusing.

Thanks.

“BEBE: ohne Software • BEBN: mit Software”

means:
BEBE: without software
BEBN: with software

So then what is BSBN?

Thanks.

Hi and Welcome!

Don’t care about those 4 letters as these are only something like “package” code. More important is the description by the vendor. The codes also may depend on the local market.
My SH-S182D was a full retail version, that came with

[ul]
[li]the drive (beige front plate)[/li][li]additional black and silver front plates[/li][li]IDE cable (40 wired)[/li][li]audio cable[/li][li]4 screws[/li][li]sheet with installation instructions[/li][li]CD with a copy of Nero 6.6 (Express)[/li]At the moment, there is an offer for a free upgrade to Nero 7:

http://www.nero.com/nero7/eng/samsung.php
So, there is no reason to be worried about getting “only” Nero 6 with the drive (I received my serial today, they needed about a week for processing)
[/ul]On the other side of the scale there are bulk versions, without anything but the bare drive. These might be available in different colors.
