Do regular pc's with a burner, burn dual layer disks, and if so. What is the best burning software to use to do this. Im a newb so do hate me if im being dumb here.
What make/model computer do you have? As for burning dual layer disks, it will depend on what DVD burner you have in your system. If you want to copy your commercial DVD's they will need to be decrypted first. An excellent program for decrypting\ripping\burning is DVDFab. There is a subforum here where you can learn all about it. If you are just backing up data, then Imgburn will work well and it's freeware.
how do i find out what burner i have, is there a name for burners that burn dual layer disks?
I don't know what operating system you are using but from Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager look for your CD/DVD rom drive/s and click the little plus sign. You drive model will be listed there.
well the model is this WDC WD32 00AAJS-00B4A0 SCSI Disk Deviceim not sure if this means anything to you but do you think this can burn the dual layer disks.
That is not your DVD burner. What make of PC do you have (HP, Dell, Gateway?) and what model is it.
my pc is an Advent PDQ5002
and under cd/dvd drives i have
ATAPI DVD A DH16A6S SCSI CdRom DeviceEZO AV0TYBSTM SCSI CdRom DevicePGB B05QZGPAN SCSI CdRom Device
O.K. You have a Liteon burner which supports dual layer burning. If you are going to burn some DL the only brand you should consider is Verbatim DL (made in Singapore, MIS) if you can find them.
