What Burning programs to use with the DW1655

Hi all

Just got our new DW1655 in, installed, QSuite 2.1 downloaded and the firmware reading is BCCD (I think). Is this the latest firmware for this drive?

We have most of the “free” programs and mainly use DVD Fab and Shrink. Also have Nero 6 updated to 6.6

Not sure if that’s the latest firmware (a quick look in the BenQ forum should tell you for sure), but those programs should serve you fine.

I too use mainly Shrink, Fab and Nero.

Edit: Just did a search in the BenQ forum for you, found a thread on the latest 1655 firmware here. HTH!

Add DVD Decrypter/Imgburn to the list of freebies to use.

I only use Imgburn for burning images. Can’t be beat really. One very useful feature is that in Nero the volume name is limited to 15/16 characters whereas you might want a more meaningful volume name of upto 31 characters. For this I create an ISO image in Nero & use Imgburn to burn, changing the volume name in the process.

Thank you for your help. My Qsuite says the f/w is BCAB- that’s what I get for trying to think off the top of my head.

So now a problem has come up. The 1655 fails to burn.

IDE drivers have been reinstalled, DMA is enabled, ASPI layer active, Qsuite has been downloaded, booktype enabled…

I have noticed one thing, whenever I stick a disc (either blank or full) the PC slows down hangs up or locks up

The error msg is this- Error:
Cannot connect TRF I was using Shrink to rearthur and burn.

TIA

Some others have been getting this error, when using Shrink with Nero’s 6.6.1.4 update (seen it a few times in the Nero sub-forum)…only thing I can think of doing, is ripping with Shrink to the HDD (either files or ISO mode, I prefer ISO mode), then closing Shrink when you’re done, and then burning with Nero (go to Recorder -> Burn Image, if you choose to rip to ISO).

Hope this helps!

Thank’s for the info - problem is I have several ripped to the HD already. I’ll go over to the Nero forum and snoop around.

thanks again
