WH10LS30K Dual Layer doesn't burn at full speed! Only 2.4X!

Hi,

New to the forum. I tried searching for issues with my WH10LS30K LG drive. I read that the BH10LS30K firmware works with my WH10LS30K drive. I updated it but my dual layers only burns at 2.4X max with IMGBurn. However, my 5 year old IDE Plextor drive can burn at 8X max no problem.

I have a Asus P6T SE motherboard if that helps at all. I tried checking the Bios for any type of settings but didn’t see anything significant.

Any suggest would be much appreciated. Thank you

Which blank disks are you using? We highly recommend Verbatim for DL disks, and the only alternative that I would use would be the Falcon/FTI DL blank dvds.

If the firmware of the drive limits the choice to 2.4x with your particular blank disks, then ImgBurn cannot force the drive to use a faster speed.

I’m sorry. I should’ve clarified.

Verbatim Dual Layers all the way!

Well, that was my best shot. I burn Verbatim DL at 4x all the time, and have successfully tested it in my older LG blu ray burner, the GGW-H20L, so this newer drive should be able to do so as well.

Best wait for mciahel or one of the other LG drive experts to chip in.

Anyone?

This line would have been enough:

I 12:31:37 Destination Media Type: DVD+R DL (Disc ID: MKM-001-00) (Speeds: 2.4x)
Okay. MKM001 IS 2.4x rated media. Overspeeding that media was not intended by the drive’s manufacturer. This is by design and nothing to be worried about.

unfortunately I have to close this thread because of this:
