Western Digital to pay Seagate $525 million following arbitration.

Seagate announced that an arbitrator has granted the company the go-ahead to collect $525 million in compensatory damages from Western Digital, plus an additional undetermined interest fee.

Setbacks like this could end up forcing WD into bankruptcy… that would be unfortunate for the hard drive industry! Prices that are set to rebound lower would go back up if WD were to exit the hard drive market with fewer competitors.
