Western Digital and Toshiba announce production of 1.33 Terabit 96-layer BiCS QLC NAND chips

After Samsung, Intel and Micron, now also Western Digital and Toshiba have made an announcement related to 3D QLC NAND. The two companies today announced that they have started shipping samples of its 96-layer Quad Level Cell (QLC) NAND flash memory chips with a capacity of 1.33 Terabit per chip.


These larger devices may end up being a flop. I would love to have a reasonably priced larger PCI-E X4 M.2 drive but speed is the name of the game. I do not think that I would be interested in stepping backwards speed wise and with lower longevity just to get a larger drive.
