Weird behavior of DH-20A4P

I noticed some strange behavior when TRTing certain DVDRs.

The drive reads the discs only at a lower speed than normal. It doenst even try to spin up.

I have that problem with RitekD01 DLs and now with my new DATA TRACK DVD-Rs. The discs are perfectly fine as the scan and TRT from other drives show.

Both my other two currently hooked up burners have no problems whatsoever.

This issue seems not firmware related since it happens with all fws tryed.
And its not a burst rate problem, all other discs max out fine at 16x.

Any ideas what could cause this?

Ill give you an example for better understanding:

Don’t know Womi, but what kind of discs are they? Never seen that MID “DATA TRACK”.

Just plain normal 4x DVD-Rs.
Made in Germany by EDD.

Even my old PS2 has no problems reading them, so the discs cant be blamed.

Maybe because they are rated at 4X , the LiteOn would only play them at 8X max

I’ve tried a TYG01 on my DH-20A3H and it reads at 16x. Maybe that MID isn’t present in the firmware and reading speed for unrecognized discs is locked to 8x.

That was my guess too mognegna  - no sign of it in the firmware:

Thanks guys, I renamed a MID to DATA TRACK, but still no 16x reading.

Maybe c0deking could look into it :flower:
