Okay, guys! Stop arguing about it. It's not such a big thing.
I believe that anything outperforms my WD1600 (it was bought brand new in autumn 2004, so I'm guessing it's made somewhere in mid 2004, or maybe even in 2003).
Personally, I love Western Digital stuff, since I have been using them with no problem for almost 10 years knock knock. From my perspective, when WD launched Raptor series, I immediately fell in love with it.
Let me repeat myself: my computer is strictly used for audi editing (also video in future). And I am talking about tons of data being loaded at the same time.
On ebay they go for around 70-90 USD, including shipping that's maximum 100 USD (the max price is for new 36,7 with 16 MB buffer size ... if you're lucky you can find 74 GB for the same price if someone's stupid enough not knowing what is he selling). It's in my money reach for sure.
