I ask a valid question and get a smartass and uninformed remark from an administrator

Ok, it looks like you have personal grievances with me.

I will go into things in more detail below:

I get a lot of software off the newsgroupz

Downloading software from newsgroups usually (99% of the cases) to downloading illegal software. As we are a legit forum where we don’t want to be associated with illegal practices of illegal downloads, that is why you got the, as you call it, smartass comment from me.

I don’t, but as explained above, you referred to an illegal activity and that is what I responded to.

Leeching does not refer to downloading files off the internet
Yes it does. Leeching is the term generally used to indicate you are downloading loads of software. COmbined with the fact you yourself said you downloaded it from newsgroups led to the conclusion you were referring to illegal software, somthing that is not allowed on this forum.

By your own comments how does this bear any resemblance to an answer? “Please post your questions as clear as possible, so others can help you get an correct answer sooner”
You can explain things in more detail without referring to illegal practices. I am not going to tell you how to break the law, disregard copyrights or bypass the rules of this forum, but there are several ways to detail your problem without putting it right into my face that this is about illegal practices.

I never claim to be above anything. I am here to uphold the rules that are clearly stated (drawn up by yours truly). I am only human too, I have my moods, but i responded with as much respect as you respected our rules and policy regarding illegal practices.

The rules
When you disagree with any decision taken by a member of the administrative team you can contact the administrator in question through Private Messaging to ask for an explanation.

Furthermore, this would have been the proper way to handle this. People may not always like my decisions (or the way they are communicated), but I think nobody can call me unfair. I am here to uphold the rules and I do so to the best of my ability.

People who respect me and the rules will also get my respect and I’ll do my very best to help them. Those who disrespect the rules will get very little compassion from me. You just happen to fall in that last category.

Dont participate in illegel activites huh? What does one usually think of as far as “adult” entertainment?

WHOIS information for cdfreaks.com:

Registrar: NETWORK SOLUTIONS, INC.

Organization: Holland Online Adult Entertainment
address: Postbus 3114
Groningen, GR 9701 DC NL

Lol, this is totally irrellevant but anyway. HAE is only the company who has registered our domain, they once ‘stole’ it from us and made a porn site of it, because we had a lot of hits. Then they decided to give it back and they still maintain the domain for us.

Second of all is Adult Entertaiment totally legal in the Netherlands.

Is this all you can do?
Obviously you are not able to refute any of what I said above and you resort to these posts? This only conforms my first impression of you.

As discussed many times before (you are not the first one to come up with this info), this is a company of a friend of CD Freaks who has registered this domain and hosted it for a long time.

Furthermore, there is nothing illegal about providing adult content on the web. So that comment only proves your weakness in this issue. Please respect us and in this case more importantly, try to show that last bit of dignity that is left.

so whats the point , CD Freaks is not a bridge you want to Burn…to many smart people in all areas & issues. Just go by the Rules & everything is cool.

#8

Any particular reason why i keep getting a track00.cda file whenever i burn with clonecd?

1: Most likely: Your writer may not be fully supported(Do not support RAW-DAO or other things)
2: You may have read to the image file with other settings. Try to read from the original disc again, and do not copy on the fly.

Too bad I missed this thread before above replies were given, but I’ll give it a shot as far as my opinion is concerned.

First I’ll start by saying that Da_Taxman may be blunt sometimes, but he has never been unfair in any decision that I know of. You have to consider the fact that he has been around for a long time and over the years has helped many people, but also has seen a lot of people who do not respect the rules of this forum.

You in your own post referred to downloading a lot of software from newsgroupz. For one, in 99.9% of the cases people would download software from newsgroups that is not legally theirs. Furthermore, by referring to newsgroupz with the z you only emphasize that impression, because that way of referring to newsgroups is almost always used by people who download illegal software (same as warez, serialz, crackz etc.)

So, his comment may have been harsh, but just. In my opinion he had every reason to delete it without warning, but he chose to leave a sarcastic comment to send out a signal to other users.

Then your post in this forum. If you have something against a decision or a remark of any person, would you not talk to that person first, instead of whing about it publicly? Are you the kind of person who runs to the newspaper and whine about what is wrong with the police when they fine you for ignoring a stop sign?

By going about it the way you have you have publicly humiliated yourself and only yourself. After what has been said here you pretend nothing happened and ask your question in this thread. I can imagine you would like to see your question answered, but I think you just burnt all your bridges here and if I were you I would try hard to rebuild them by respecting the rules and the admins/mods of this forum.

Oh, one more thing, remember this forum is not public property. The people of this forum would like a lot of users who help each other, but it is their forum, they make up the rules and they decide who can stay or not. Harsh words? Perhaps, but nobody said this was a democracy

Dravenwild

This is a LEGIT cd forum. At one time there was all kinds of warez requests, serials and the such. We have since turned over a new leaf.

There is a sticky post in parts of the forum that clearly stating what is acceptable practice. Wares serials are not allowed to posted in here.

Ok here might be a possible answer to your question. The drive might not be able to write RAW.

Rules are rules, fair enough.
But I don’t believe for 1 minute that all people here use their cd-burner for legal purposes.

I’ve read statements like “I use about 100 cdr’s per week.” And, its only for backup purposes? Yeah right. And I’ve got a red cape and can fly.

To portray the image of CDfreakers as honest, decent people who never participate in any illegal activity is a joke.

Hey All,

I agree that there is not a chance on Earth (or anywhre else) that everyone who uses CDFreaks legally owns the software/license they are intending to backup.

However there are tactful ways to phrase questions that do not have to make any explicit reference to any illegal activity (even if they are illegal).

“Rules are Rules” nah! Rules are there to be broken :stuck_out_tongue: but ya gotta live with the consequences when you break em

Of course we all know why people want to ‘back up’ stuff…
But saying you borrowed a CD from a freind because you refuse to pay the money and then ask how it can be copied is asking for trouble and clearly referring to illegal activities and thus not allowed.

Same applies to downloading ISOz or downloading from newsgroupz (especially with the z in the word like that), that is clearly stating you partake in illegal activities and you cannot expect the mods and admins to help you there.

No reason to blame the admins/mods for wanting this forum to be as clean as possible to avoid any legal problems and scare away respectable sponsors (you have no idea what it costs to run a site this big, with this amount of data traffic, and it all has to be paid for by sponsors, because ‘us’ surfers always refuse to pay for anything).

If your own stupidity gets you into trouble, face up to the consequences and don’t blame someone else for it (how human it may be). Make sure you phrase your questions carefully, there are many ways to ask the question you can’t find an answer to, then choose the legal one
