After reading the details of the worm off the threads on this forum, I thought that as long as I have my Sygate Personal Firewall on which would block unauthorised port 135 accesses, which is apparently how it spreads, from an article referred to by Skyline:
Despite having the firewall, my computer got rebooted
Quickly turned on my antivirus to auto-protect, and it detected the worm (I usually have it off because I have a slow clunky P3-866MHz )
A few burning questions:
[li]How did it bypass my firewall?
[/li][li]It looks like I will be uninstalling this firewall. Can anyone recommend a good firewall program? Preferably free?
[/li][li]If you have a firewall and got infected, what firewall were you using?
[/li][li]Why can't Norton Antivirus delete the infected file? It says "Unable to repair this file" or "Access to this file is denied." Is there a way to force an active file so that it can be deleted?
Yes, I am downloading the patches and fixes now. Stupid Sygate personal firewall. At least it was a demo version, now I know for sure not to buy their useless stuff.
