Just as an fyi, a few weeks back Supermedia was doing a blow out sale on 100 disc cakes of "Value Line" Tayio 8x dvd-r's for $23 a 100. A friend unfortunately gifted me with 400.
Almost every disc has had pi failures of 8-12 at around 450-500MB. I've seen this with 3 different burners on 3 diferent pc's & 1 stand alone dvd recorder. I have tried slowing burning speed to 4x, with little improvement.
I am aware that many here feel that Nero CD Speed's results can be inaccurate, so I didn't totally accept this conclusion until last night when a disc with a PI failure of 12 at 500 mb froze during playback at around the 12 minute mark.
I've had value line in the past, & while i expect them to score a little lower then premium, I've never seen anything like this.
About 10% have shown differing behavior: about 5% are acceptable & about 5% have a huge pi failure in another part of the disc.
I opened a second cake last just in case in was only the one, but same problem.
Drives are 2 Optiarc 7200's (one ide & 1 sata), 1 Pioneer 111 & 1 standalone Pioneer DVR-225 which shows up as a Pioneer 107 on CD Speed.
