Before you buy them, remember how bad the first DVDs were (many were just Laser disc projects transposed to DVD) Don’t buy a rev 1 player or movie - let someone else pay the early adopters tax.

at least the movie studios already have a hi-def version of video used for DVD. It’ll be much easier to encoded it again for HD. The sound should also get an upgrade too, usually a minimum of 756kbps for foreign DD and sometimes 1.5Mbps for English DD.

Yeah, and a lot of the first gen wide screen movies were not anamorphic. Plus, let’s not forget about the discs that had to be flipped part way through the movie because they were not dual layer.

Yeah so everyone waits and no one buys anything new because they are waiting for someone else…:d
