Want to use EAC for MP3s and label tracks like WMP can

Is it possible to automatically label tracks (not the file name) with information such as track number,
genre, album name, etc… so that it shows up in mp3 properties and in the player like it does when ripped with windows media player? I want to use EAC to make my mp3’s but I can’t seem to find how to do that.

Any links or info is appreciated. I didn’t know how best to search for this and have yet to find what I’m asking for.

Thanks all

Personally I use Cdex to rip Audio CDs to mp3. If the CD has CD text then it’ll automatically create the tag information & possibly pick up the details from an online database. Not sure that EAC can actually do what you want as I don’t use it currently but seem to recall that it doesn’t tag , but I could easily be wrong.

If there’s not CD Text available then I’d use Tag&Rename to create the tags. It also has access to online databases & finds most tracks I rip.

EAC can access the freedb database to do this, you just need to set up the ID3 tag options and it will tag your songs when ripping them.

This is a good guide, mihgt not be the best, but i use it and it does just fine for seting up EAC…

That’s a useful link, just bookmarked it for myself.

This forum is about helping others so I can’t see any issue posting links to other sites if it helps & it’s done all the time.

You need to enter an email address during the setup wizard so it can communicate with freedb to tag. It doesn’t even have to be a real email address. By the way, the hydrogen audio settings for LAME is outdated in EAC.
This link gives the new recommended settings for with LAME and EAC: http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?title=EAC_and_Lame Change the number after -V to 1 or 0 if you want higher quality.
