“…but is only Profile 1.1…”

Just trying the peer preasure method on him. He’ll get the joke I think?

That means that it is Bonus View capable but lacks BD-Live support. In addition, since that Magnavox player has no Ethernet port at all, it can never support BD-Live even if the firmware could be updated to a newer version.

If all I care about is watching the movie then this would be okay for me, right? I almost never watch extras.

I was also wondering the same thing; I am not really into BD hardware wise, I have read that continuous firmware updates would be necessary for being able to watch content and bypass the DRM etc, but that was before the war ended.

Is this the case still? If yes, is this BD live support associated with that?

Yeah, what Hemi said.

BD Live has nothing to do with the firmware updates. Players that are bd live compatible can get their updates online with the ethernet port. Otherwise you burn the update to a cd and do it that way. My dad has a profile 1.0 player and doesn’t have any problems. As long as you don’t care about BD Live, this would be a good player.

Cool thanx
