VPNs: What They Do, How They Work, and Why You’re Dumb for Not Using One

For as ubiquitous as connectivity has become and how reliant we’ve grown on it, the Internet is still a digital jungle where hackers easily steal sensitive information from the ill-equipped and where the iron-fisted tactics of totalitarian regimes bent on controlling what their subjects can access are common. So instead of mucking around in public networks, just avoid them. Use a VPN instead.

VPN’s are only fun if you have your own personal VPN server/service running at your home/office. Otherwise you never can be sure nobody is snooping around. VPN can also be very slow.

Hide my ass or express vpn are the best

HMA has semi-reasonable pricing for its VPN. However, they do keep records of who logs in where and will release them to the authorities. Also, I’ve had problems getting logged in and staying on a VPN connection with their service. They do however, have better router software than Private Internet Access. But PIA is about 50-60% of HMA price per month. PIA also has tools that will kill any ongoing internet process if you get bumped from the VPN line, unlike HMA.
