VOM-12E48X Upgrading Firmware

Hi ! im new here and i was hoping to make my drive 6X upgrading to 12X so,
i install the 100D500C firmware for the Artec “VOM-12E48X”.
i entered the command : mtkflash 4 w /m 100d500c.bin
then it starting some updating…bank01 or something all the way until 12.
after it finished the updating it ask me to reboot…and i did that but…its still 6X???

any clue what i did wrong?

Welcome to cdfreaks
The only thing you did wrong was buying the drive. There are no DVD media at all supported at 12x write speed, as far as I know. What is the media code of the disks that only allow 6x burning ?

but then the Memorex DVD-R says 1x-16x tho…lol ~_~

The disk might allow this write speed, but the firmware for your drive does not. Post the DVDIdentifier output of your 16x disk, including the “Write Descriptors” section.
Here is an example output.

well umm heres the “Write Descriptors” section:

** INFO : Drive = (null) VOM-12E48X - [FW 100D] - [ATAPI]
** INFO : Write Capabilities = DVD+R DVD+RW
** INFO : Write Capabilities = DVD-R DVD-RW
** INFO : Disc = [DVD-R:RITEKF1]
** INFO : Reference Speed : 1x DVD = 1385 kBps
** INFO : An Writeable Disc Is Recommended For Accurate Results
** INFO : Write Speeds (Supported By This Drive On This Disc) Listed Below

** INFO : GET PERFORMANCE Write Speed Descriptor(s)

Descriptor #2 = 5540 kBps ( 4.00x) - [CLV/Non-Pure CAV]
Descriptor #3 = 3245 kBps ( 2.34x) - [CLV/Non-Pure CAV]

** INFO : MODE SENSE Write Speed Descriptor(s) [Legacy Command]
** WARNING : MODE SENSE Is Obsolete And Not Always Properly Supported
Descriptor #1 = 8310 kBps ( 6.00x) - [CLV/Non-Pure CAV]
Descriptor #2 = 5540 kBps ( 4.00x) - [CLV/Non-Pure CAV]
Descriptor #3 = 2770 kBps ( 2.00x) - [CLV/Non-Pure CAV]
Descriptor #4 = 1385 kBps ( 1.00x) - [CLV/Non-Pure CAV]

i noticed it says " 6.00x " as the highest speed…~~
but is that the MAX speed of my Drive? or CD? ?

Descriptor #1 = 8310 kBps ( 6.00x) - [CLV/Non-Pure CAV]

It doesn’t cpount what speed your drive can burn here, it is limited by the media & firmware.

And RitekF1 media is only recommended for good burners (Nec, Pioneer, Benq maybe).

but…the firmware i got from here: http://info.ultima.com.tw/fae/Service_e/nl/home/firmware.asp.htm

should have let me burn at 12X . but no effect after i flashed my drive? unless i flashed wrong :frowning:

I doubt that the 100D firmware supports 12x writing at all. Your RITEKF1 media is not supported, so it is burned with a default strategy. Here is the media code list:
