Why dont they just use an SD-MMC-XD-MemoryStick card type it is only 1GB

You are right it doesn’t seem very practical for a mobile device, the only thing that they have considered is that Hollywood studios are reluctant to launch movies on memory stick

I agree I already have a 4GB MicroSD card in my mobile phone which holds a lot more than 1 Movie on it, and I can use the MicroSD on my computer as well. Waste of money in my opinion.

The company claims that they can manufacture the discs for about $2 each which is considerably less than flash memory. Then again, you can reuse flash memory so this might not be the best choice for everyone. I’m really curious to see what sort of DRM they’re going to use.
