I’m trying to burn a DVD. I have a movie in .iso format and tried burning it a DVD and it works fine on my PC - where i have the actual DVD with menu’s scene’s etc. I also extracted the ISO file with Magic ISO to ‘Video_TS’ and the Audio_TS

When I tried it on my DVD player (Sony) the opening menu is a bit distorted and not centered on the screen properly, its positioned low on the television screen and it looks like it’s “torn” at the top.

I tried Nero, and Imgmaker to do this. Any ideas?

If the movie is in iso format just burn it to a dvd with Imgburn. You don’t have to extract anything. Imgburn is free.

I am using DVDFab Plat 5 to burn my DVD,s. I cannot copy the latest Rambo and would guess Sony has new copy protection incription on later DVD,s. Has anyone had this problem? or can anyone advise how to overcome this.

is imgburn the same as imgmaker? i tried imgmaker…with no luck
i think it may have something to do with the video compression (4.3?) but i dont know where to set it

i already tried buring the .iso direct to the dvd

ImgBurn is not the same as imgmaker.
If your burned DVD play fine on PC DVD drive and not on stand alone, than it is most likely the media (disc brand).
Are you burning single or dual layer DVD?
What DVD brand and type(+R,-R) you use?

they are memorex dvd’s +R
i can make a DVD with these no problem with Xillisoft - this way I just add an avi to the project list and hit burn and away it goes, but it makes it’s own “Xillisoft” menu that you can customize but no scene selections and such.

I want to have it authentic, with the menus , scene selections etc.

Thats way I want to try it this way with the actual DVD rip, all 4 Gigs.
I can see the menu on lets say, American Gangster but its distorted a bit and appears half 1/4 of the way down on the television.

Maybe its a software issue, what is the best software package to use?

Single layer DVD’s by the way.

If you have an ISO file, than use ImgBurn to burn it to DVD.
Try to burn to RW type so you can test it in your computer, than see.
It could be that a distortion is in original, but you will see it on computer also.
If you are burning +R, it is a good idea to book type to DVD-Rom.
Not that it has to do anything with the distorted picture, but some stand alone do not like +R format.

i have imgburn…i will try it with a differe .iso file
what do you mean, book type to dvd-rom? can you explain the steps?

book typing is for DVD+R to change it to read as DVD-ROM which is a format of pressed DVD.
This make DVD+R more compatible with older players.
Once you open main window of ImgBurn(where you insert your movie file), there is an icon in right lower corner, looks like open book, click on it and it will open new screen where you can find your burner and set it for book typing, if the burner is capable of doing that, not all are.
You can always try -R disc.

the opening menu is a bit distorted and not centered on the screen properly

what is the source? is this problem with your converted avi files?

and i agree with using ImgBurn. please post a burn log for us to review. from within ImgBurn:

help/ imgburn logs

I can play these files with no problems on power dvd on my PC -
when i put it in my home theatre (sony) it appears to be black and white BUT the audio is first rate…definitely better than just an .avi file or what have you.
I attached a shot of what my TV looks like when i play the dvd - in the picture is some dude from american gangster, i think he may have been in that movie the gladiator :stuck_out_tongue:

Here is the log file
