hi, i`ve been burning VIDEO_TS files onto DVD+R for playback in my dvd player without any fuss.
But, would i be able to burn same files onto DVD+RW for playback on a standard dvd player ? - (so i can format & re-use the same DVD+RW disc more than once, rather than burning onto a DVD+R & having to keep using new discs)
also, does it matter if i use DVD+RW or DVD-RW ?
any advice would be cool, cheers.
banksy.
Hi and welcome to the forum
Rewritable media can be burned in the same way of regular write once discs, so you only need your preferred burning software and the VOB-IFO-BUP files to write on the disc
thanks for the reply.
so, is there a prefered choice between DVD+RW or DVD-RW for playback in a dvd player ?
banksy.
You’re welcome
If a standalone is able to read rewritable media, usually there is no difference between plus or minus discs.
The only way to find which one is better for you is doing a test with both media in your standalone. Bear in mind, however, that rewritable discs usually contains a higher amount of errors (due to the nature of the media), so it is possible that both +RW and -RW will give playback issues. In most of cases, write once discs are much more reliable
thanks again.
hi, me again…
ive just tried to burn a video_ts file to a dvd+rw but it said "burn failed" when i tried to format/erase the disc it wouldn
t let me do that either…
i tried to erase the disc with img burn & nero.
i`m using a verbatim dvd+rw disc.

any help would be appreciated,

I think that the culprit is the disc. Even if it is a Verbatim, rewritable media are far lesser reliable than write once discs
However, also the software can be the cause. For some reason, nero never worked to me in burning RW discs but I never had problems with imgburn
Try this trick (sometimes it works, sometimes not )
Run ImgBurn and do a FULL erase of the disc twice.
Wait a couple of minutes between the erases, so the disc (and the drive) can cool up a bit. Then use ImgBurn to burn the disc (in build mode you can do this directly without creating an ISO file first).
If this don’t work, try with a different disc. If also a different disc (possibly a Verbatim to be sure that you get a quality disc) fails, then you can try these discs in a different drive. If also in a different drive these discs fails, then the cause is definitely a bad batch of media. The only solution is a new disc.
If you can’t find a reliable batch of discs, there is an alternative solution, but is not a really cheap one… With a media player like this you can play your DVDs from an external HDD so there is no need to burn anymore
thanks again geno888,
i tried updating my firmware from the liteon website for the writer, then i tried again with the erasing.
nero still didnt work but img did ! i
ve just put the video_ts files on the disc & things seem ok.
thanks, banksy.
You’re welcome
Get ImgBurn open Build Menu. Drop AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS in there and burn.
Or make an iso of it (if need an iso) via destination for drive or folder. So can burn later or keep as iso.
