Video_TS or ISO file -Advantage?

Hello

I'm giving the TMPGEnc DVD Author a 30 day trial. I just did a DVD-Ram to DVD-R conversion using the built in write-to-disc in TDA. One thing I'm curious about is some mention changing over to "ISO" and use DVD Decrypter for burning. In the TDA write menu it gives a option for "Create ISO Image" and "ISO-DVD".

Is there any advantage for one or the other? I just did the point to the "Video_TS" file and hit the "write" button. So far the PQ has been pretty good. I recorded "Bram Stoker's Dracula" off HBO HD from Dish. The only thing has been the volumn of the sound. I've had to turn it up more than normal. I thought about making a comparision doing a "ISO" but wasn't sure if it would be any different? Any thoughts?

I wouldn't use the write capability of TDA if I were you. DVDDecrypter is rock-solid for ISO burning. BTW, when I tried out Nero for awhile, it really farked every other burning app I had, TDA included, but not DVDDecrypter. Hmm, advantages of ISOs? Eh, somebody else can comment on that. Anyway, two tools are must-haves to deal with ISO images: Daemon Tools and Image Tools Classic. You can mount images with the former, create ISOs from files with the latter.

The only time I find an ISO format handy for burning is when the volume name that I want is longer than Nero will allow. I then create it as an image & burn with DVD Decrypter changing the volume name at the same time. I just like my DVDs sensibly named.

I agree. Nero don't allow long label names (never understand why ) but decrypter do.

Regarding burning quality, I haven't find differences between nero and decrypter; maybe my media (no TY until now :sad: ) are not so good to show differences

I've not noticed any real differences in the burn quality between Nero, DVD Decrypter, Roxio. I just use what I feel like at the time & get comparable results.
That's using various media including TY.
