I'm here again with another strange request
Finally, after cannibalizing other machines and buying some low cost components, I was finally able to assemble a new PC. I will buy better components asap, but because of wallet issues (it is loudly growling) I can't afford a new monitor.
Consequently, I am forced to use a single PC at time. I don't have a spare monitor, but I'd like to use the same monitor on both machines, so I'm searching for a DVI video switch.
My monitor (a Samsung Syncmaster 205BW) has both a VGA and a DVI port, and theoretically it should be able to be connected at the same time with both ports on different machines, selecting the source from the on screen menus.
I said theoretically, because I never was able to do this. I also tried to connect the monitor to a single machine through the VGA port, but the screen remains undetected. I really hope that the VGA port is not damaged. I will try with a new cable when I'll get one in next days, but I wonder if a DVI video switch is a better solution.
I never found such components in stores, so actually I don't have idea if they really exists. Can someone give me some suggestions? Possibly also with links of online stores where to buy
Many thanks for help
