Video problems

If anything wants to use wmp or play I try anything to do with playing a DVD my PC goes into a go slow mode. CPU usage goes to 100% etc

I think the problem came when I tried a DVD codec as I couldn’t find any of my copies of power dvd and I used a free one

I’ve been putting it off and putting it off as I was going to reformat and start again but I keep putting that off as I have little time… blah blah blah

How can I delete all the video drivers/codecs etc? I’ve tried different Nvidea drivers.

I’ve reinstalled power dvd to no avail.

Am I missing something obvious and looking in the wrong direction.

Using some free hacked codecs can break the DirectShow setup. Unfortunately the only reliable way to get rid of them is to make a clean installation.

Using GSpot you can delete individual codecs but unless you know which is the exact one (or combination), it could be fruitless.

However you might try VideoLAN VLC which has its own codecs on board.

thanks, I suspected it might be a problem.
I’ll sit it out until Christmas when I’ve some time off and re-install. I suppose I could do it on another partition over a few days mind…

Jeez I hate being lazy
