Some newer DVD players do have support for both Divx/Xvid avi files and H264 mp4 files, but if the mp4 file happens to have a higher resolution than what is seen in DVD video, it will not play in your stand alone DVD player.
You can always convert it to DVD video in AVStoDVD, which is both free to use and simple. Just make sure to set it to PAL DVD standard, since you are in Australia.
This dvd is burned from a file. Other i play on standalone are normally a disc not burned from a file. As i mentioned originally when i insert the burned disc from a file in the computer the screen says “Files currently on the disc”, and doesn`t open and play automatically.
