Video only plays on computer

I have an mp4 file on my computer which i burned onto a disc successfully. When i put it into play on the computer, up comes "files currently on disc" and it will play if i open it but not automatically.
It won`t play in a stand alone dvd player. Could you help please?:bigsmile:

Does you standalone supports other formats than dvd?Some older ones can also play .avi,but they don’t recognise .mp4 containers…

What does that mean?
Can you post the brand and model of your standalone player?

Some newer DVD players do have support for both Divx/Xvid avi files and H264 mp4 files, but if the mp4 file happens to have a higher resolution than what is seen in DVD video, it will not play in your stand alone DVD player.

You can always convert it to DVD video in AVStoDVD, which is both free to use and simple. Just make sure to set it to PAL DVD standard, since you are in Australia.

As i mentioned originally when i insert the burned disc from a file in the computer the screen says “Files currently on the disc”, and doesn`t open and play automatically.[/B]

That’s normal…you didn’t re-encode the file,just burned it as data for storage purposes…there’s no menu or autorun.inf on that disc…

Mount the ISO in Slysoft Virtual CloneDrive. http://slysoft.com/en/virtual-clonedrive.html It is free to download and use.

This will make the contents of the ISO file accessible for any conversion program that doesn’t normally support ISO files. Then import the mp4 into AVStoDVD and make a DVD-video from it.

Doesn’t really matter which DVD standard you use in Australia. Whilst we’re a PAL format country, all stand-alone players sold downunder will also play NTSC format and are multi-region too.

In that case, I’d convert to the DVD-video format that matches the framerate of the mp4 file, if that is possible. Use Mediainfo to find the framerate, and if it is 25fps, use a PAL standard DVD target, if the framerate is 29.97, make an NTSC standard DVD. If it is something else, take your pick.
