[QUOTE=sparticus1025;2119177]Looking to upgrade my video card (for HD use, blu ray, etc), just want to make sure I don’t go out and buy one that won’t work on my machine. I’d like to use my Apple 23" Cinema Display with my pc. It looks like the card needs to be HDCP ready for HD stuff? Unless that can be achieved with dvi connection (read that somewhere).
HP Pavillion 6460t PC, 2.4ghz intel core 2 duo, 2gb ram, vista home premium sp1
motherboard info (from cpu-z):
vendor PEGATRON CORPORATION
Northbridge Intel P35/G33/G31 rev. A2
Southbridge Intel 82801IR (ICH9R) rev. 02
I was looking at these (wouldn’t like to spend too much, but maybe I’ll have to):
ASUS EN8400GS SILENT/HTP/512M GeForce 8400 GS 512MB
EVGA 256-P2-N742-LR GeForce 8500 GT 256MB
I’m guessing the key to compatibility is the interface? (i.e. AGP 4x/8x, PCI, PCI Express x16, etc.)
Anyone recommend one of those, or another video card? (Just needs to support 1920x1200 resolution and I guess it needs to be HDCP ready.)
I would check the weekly BB ADS/ Bought my last two on sale and got an additional %12 off. You should be able to pick up an old stock clear out for less than $100 that meests all your needs/ Make sure is says HDCP-enabled /ready and not just capable.
Also newegg.com. Get at least 512K memory and read the reviews before you buy. Remember your monitor needs to be HDCP also.
