If it is another region, why does it play on his stand alone player? And if it won’t read, I don’t think ImgBurn is going to help either.
Some dvd drives are better readers than others, so you might come across one that can read it…you undoubtedly have a limited selection of drives to try though.
If all else fails, you can use a capture card in the computer and use the svideo or composite line out from your player to the capture card. I wonder if Chinese dvds use Macrovision? If so, you can use a Hauppauge brand capture card that ignores Macrovision.
Doing it through the capture card is definitely the hard way, and will lose menus, and require rebuilding to dvd-video format from the captured mpg2.
