Verrrry Old: HP Vectra VL 400 DT

Hi, My firm if moving to new location and i find about 20 PC’s Vectra VL 400 DT, so i thougt about selling it even for 10$ each… but there is a problem, i wasnt working here when they were in use. The PC’s are lock i read some manual from HP site there are some sort of protection mechanism and I cant boot or even turn it on, any of them because they are lock does any1 know HOW TO unlock HP Vectra VL 400 DT.

Yes I know it’s pice of junk but probobly it will be a gift for orphans house.

Yes, bios reset wont do the trick.

Battery about 1 day whitout. There is no jumper to clear bios :<

1.i cant check current bios ver because non of them will start/turn on, there is led on chassis and sign lock.

but i found simular ver of hpvectra with: Phoenix 12/05/01

I know there is no ram and HD, with them the result turning on the button is the same like u can see on foto orange led. Sorry for quality i made them by phone :<

So you think they need a dongle to work??

Trying to flash with another/similar BIOS should be possible in some way…

besmirch, there are system board switches on boards lower/bottom corner. :slight_smile: Adding photo for detailed location.
Link to manual in pdf decribing switches function (p. 10ff).
BTW, install a memory module and AGP graphic card for testing to see if you can enter BIOS.

ok. I used those switch’es and still they wont turn on ;/ I cleared bios passwd’s, i checked with difrent combinations of 3,4,5 and still they dont want to turn on. I used not orginal drive in my “test subject pc” maybe thats a problem ?

Yes i checked with ram module.

I still think they require a kind of dongle to work with that BIOS…
