I recently purchased a 20 piece spindle of the Verbatim DVD+R DL that have the “Up to 8x speed” written on the packaging. I have a LiteOn LH-20A1H that burns DVD+R DL at 8x but for some reason when I burn in Nero 7.5 the highest choice of burning speed I get is 4X. Anyone had this similar problem or know what the problem is? I have the LL0A firmware on my burner.
Up to 8x probably means it’s MKM001, which is 2.4x media. Some of my drives only burn it @ 4x also.
There is nothing wrong with the writer or discs and you probably shouldn’t risk writing at such high speeds with expensive DL media as it could make the copies unreadable. 4x is a good speed for DL anyways, it’s fast enough without causing large amounts of errors in most cases.
4x is enough anyways in my opinion for mkm001 or any dual layer
Ok, I’ll stick with 4x then. So is the risk of error while burning DL media at higher speeds due to the media or the burners?
my 111L burns MKM001 very well at 8x
I doubt it, 8x is even with a 111 not a good choice.
BenQ DW1640 burns MKM001 pretty well @8X.
