Verbatim DL cakeboxes - Made in Singapore or Made in Taiwan?

Now today I went to a shop and saw DL media in CMC-style cakeboxes (with the CMC serif font), and “Made in Singapore” on the label. The bottom felt rough though, similar to the Made in India ones and unlike the Made in Taiwan ones.

Is this a wrong label, did Verbatim start migrating DL production to Taiwan or am I just wrong?

(I live in Europe btw :))

If you are talking about the spindles of 10 discs for 19.95 EUR at Saturn, they should be made in Singapore indeed. I bought one of those:

Stamper code: ZD0890-DVR-V850A and ZD5580-DVR-V851B

Serial: PV5YDGEH893611

Yes, it was a 10 disc cakebox, but I didn’t see it at Saturn.

The thing is, they have the serif font similar to CMC, and also the CMC rectangle. But the rough bottom is odd though. Could it be that CMC only supplies the cakeboxes?

Generally the Singapore Mitsubishi media comes in CMC-style cakeboxes.

Hm, interesting (even the price).

Did you have luck with them burning and quality wise?

Yes, burned 2 of them with my old and trusty NEC 3500 already. Quality was ok, as expected from Verbatim 2,4x DVD+R DL media.

Great, thanks for the info!!

I have yet to see any Verbatim D/L media that isn’t made in Singapore.

Ditto…that even includes printables.
