Verbatim Digital Movie 4X DVD-R 25pack only $14.99 at Bestbuy

I couldn’t believe it but it’s true. Bought 4 packs and it says on the wrapper itself that Verbatim is a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Chemical Corp (MCC).
I ran DVDinfopro and it indeed is MCC.

So hurry up and buy some.

Yup it is MCC alright but the first burnt @8x on NEC2500A, I got a pretty high PI :Z.

If the labels say Made in Taiwan, then they’re most probably MCC media manufactured under contract by CMC Magnetics. Still good, but many people still consider Singapore-made MCC discs to be the best Mitsubishi/Verbatim media.

Now compare this said-to-be good Media with Ritek also said-to-be RMA. Both burn with Clone @8x but different file size.

  1. Ritek G04 burnt @8x CloneDVD2

  2. MCC 01RG20 burnt @8x CloneDVD2

This is a scan I found on a Japanese site of MCC 01RG20 (made in Taiwan, Mitsubishi Cine-R) burned on an ND-2500a:

So it varies, even given the same burner and same media.

I don’t think we can compare these two scans. Firstly becuase that scan is done on 8X. Secondly we don’t know what burning speed they use.And last they scanned on Lite-On DVD-rom not burner. Also what the heck is that PO " error all the way? "

Anyway come back to realistic @ 4x. Even burnt @4x the scan is not as pretty as those Ritek G04.

Burnt @4x in ClondDVD on NEC2500A

Ya Jai

It seems like we don’t use the same firmware or the same media.

This is MCC 01RG20 burnt at 8X on my Nec 2500A. The pattern is more like the japanese graph above.

Where did you get these MCC? Mine is BB 25pks and made in Taiwan which said to be CMC plants. NEC is 2500A 1.70v2b5. what’s yours?

Tit for tat:

Like I said, it varies, even using the same burner and same media.

I bought a spindle of these today and so far on my Lite-On 812s burner I made 1 successful dvd out of 5. So I have 4 coasters. Seems to error right at the end when writing the lead out. Hopefully others will have better luck with them. Cheap enough for the price…

Check the media code on your 25 packs. They are indeed made in Taiwan, but they have the MCC 01RG20 media code. As far as I know only 8x MCC media is made in Singapore anymore.

It was burned at 8x:

Actually the scan I posted was of a 4x burn, here is the one at 8x:

My firmware is 107V2B4 from Herrie.

You enlighten me on the fact that same mediacode (MCC) can be manufactured either by CMC Mag in Taiwan or Mitsubishi somewhere else (Singapore ?)

No its not same media as Two Degrees thought.

I learned something !
