That’s $24.99 for a 5-pack of Verbatim 8X DVD+R DL discs. That $5 a disc price is cheaper than the 2.4X Verbatim DVD+R DL discs were at this time last year (I think I spent the same $25 price for 3 discs, not 5). I really like the fact that Verbatim USA is marketing them in a 5-pack, instead of a 3-pack (like Verbatim Europe). Verbatim Europe has listed the 8X DVD+R DL for quite some time–who knows how long these discs have been available outside of the USA. We’re always the last to get new optical storage disc technology. I will post my results of these discs (bought today from Best Buy) on my PX-716SA in the Plextor forum for those interested.

It is cheaper but given the fact that the 2.4x Verbs burn great at 6x on my Pioneer and can regularly be found on sale in 10 packs for $20, it just doesn’t make much sense to buy the slightly faster discs IMHO for $3 more each. I am definitely interested in seeing the results though.

Thanks tlotz, looking forward to your scans.
