VCDeasy

i have the trial version of VCDeasy and i am considering buying but i wanted to know more about this program before i do buy it.

Will this program take an Mpg file and burn it on a dvd as an SVCD?

I am asking this question because it just sounds to easy.

And also is this program worth buying or is there somthing better i should get. (thats inexpensive)

For what tasks do you want to use VCDeasy? If it’s only the burning part you are interested in, I think any newer burning suite, like Nero 5.5 (or higher) will do.

For converting videos to VCD, SKVCD and SVCD DVD2SVCD can be used, as it provides all the needed functionalities (as a matter of fact, this program is really great!) and it comes for free. The only thing you need to buy is an MPEG2 encoder…

It used to come for free, but after V. 1.15.2 it has been a Commercial program

You can still download the last freeware version from http://tucows.energis-idc.net/preview/260392.html , thats version 1.1.5.2. The latest really doesnt do much more than the free version, so I believe…

A SVCD burnt to a DVDR will simply not playback in your DVD Player. Even SVCD’s properly authored (as in DVDLab, etc) do not playback in all DVD Players. The only way to guarentee SVCD on DVDR for playback on a DVD Player is to re-encode them to true DVD specs.

i have found out that my cinnevision dvd player will play SVCD’s and VCD’s

I have used dvd2svcd and it works but i dont know what software to use to author these files. ive tried using tmpgenc but it never works right. What other program could I use thats free or inexpensive?

Then try DVDLab. A free demo version from http://www.mediachance.com/dvdlab/
