VCD to DVD

does anyone know if DVDFab Platinum can copy a VCD to dvd? I just received a VCD and would like to back it up. And if not, any suggestions? thanks

Just a thought but why not just copy it to another CD?

Off hand I can’t remember if you can just drag and drop (VCD is ancient now and it’s been a long long time since I looked at anything to do with it) and there are various sub-types of VCD potentially with different settings.

Just do a straight disc copy in Nero or any of the popular burning software and you won’t have to worry about what settings to use.

If you haven’t got any burning software installed try the freeware ImgBurn as it’s highly recommended.

See here if you need instructions but it’s very simple to use.

the reason for this is to watch on my DVD player…now I can only watch on my computer…pain in the neck

when you open the VCD what type of files do you see?

Most DVD Players should play VCD’s.

There is usually something in the setup about PBC.

As the others have said back it up using any CD backup software.

Here is what I see:
a data folder with some menu.DAH, menu.DAL, etc files and outside the folder there is

autorun.apm
autorun.exe
autorun.inf
vcd rightside.wmv
vcd.ico

You should have a folder like D:\MPEGAV where files like AVSEQ01.DAT, AVSEQXX.DAt are stored.

These files are the MPEG movie files.

It sounds like you are not referring to a true Video CD.
