Using Double Layer Disks

How do I use Double layer disks w/ clone dvd

I recorded a movie, wrote it to disk.

Then recorded another but, Clone DVD did not recognize the disk as recordable.

Am I diong something wrong?

start clone and the pick copy dvd titles
browse to your dvd-rom or you hdd-rip
then in quality (at bottom center) change to DVD+R DL

follow prompts

Thanks Zag,

I’m in the process of recording now.

Once the first movie is finished, will I be able to start a new movie, and finish writing to the double layer disk?

Ok umm… maybe we’re a bit confused here?

Are you trying to put TWO movies onto a dual-layer disc? CloneDVD won’t do that…

Or are you only trying to put ONE movie onto a dual-layer disc? I’m confused.

a Dl disk will accept about 8.5gb data
once you start the burn process it cannot be be disturbed or paused
or you will get a coaster

if you want to put 2 separate movies on a DL, then they must be combined to HDD
then thay can be burned to DL (size must be less than 8.5ish)

first please clarify what you want to do

Well I have made three coasters so far, $20 in the hole.

I’m trying to copy two seperate movies on DL disks in order to reduce the amount of DVD’s in my back-up library and still retain good quality.

I don’t know, but it must be some sort of multisession process.

I have Nero 6.6.0.15, Clone DVD2 2.8.5.1, and Any DVD 5.8.3.1

Do I need some other software to accomplish this?

You should have waited for our replies… because…

You can’t. Well you can, but only the main movie.

I don’t know, but it must be some sort of multisession process.

No multisession, you just have to use CloneDVD or DVD Shrink to make the main movie less than 4.3GB for each movie, and the reauthor a new disc with an authoring program (there might be tutorials to trick Shrink or CloneDVD into doing this).

It is quite easy to do
first only use verbatim DL, memorex will always fail as far as I am concerned

But first do you realize that 2 single disks contain more data than a DL disk
ie 4.7x2=9.4g vs a 8.5g for DL, thus a single movie copied to a single disk will have good (better?) quality than putting 2 on DL
also 2 single disks are 90% cheaper than a DL disk
