Hi, I'm looking for a way to make a large virtual hard drive out of DVDs. I've looked around and looked at other forums. Found a couple programs called DisCat and Heirchial Data Library. It inventory's the DVDs but leaves them as seperate entities.
What I want is a program that I can just drag files into my virtual hard drive. It then copies the programs to DVD. I picture it in my mind that when the DVD fills up, then I'll just put in the next DVD... label it "dvd 2." Even though the folders are going to be out of order in the DVDs by date and alphabetical or whatever, the cataloging program will keep it all straight. When I say I want a file in the "virtual hard drive" called "test file.jpg", it will know that file is on the 3rd dvd, and ask me to insert it. That's how I visualize it working in my mind. All the programs I've found so far just inventory all the DVDs but leave them as separate entities in the program, so I still need to click on each disk and find what I want and then go search for the CD with that name on it. If I forget to put an earlier date folder on an earlier CD and put it on a later CD, I have to remember that and look through the other CDs in the catalog. I don't want to do that. I want it to all appear as one huge hard drive.
