Use DVD+RW as a DVD?

IS it possible to use a DVD+RW as a plain old DVD+R?
Nero doesn’t seem to let me…
can this be done and how?
Thank you from me,

Hi ballinthejack, welcome to CDFreaks!

Can you use a DVD+RW for recording just once like a DVD+R? Yes.

Will it be readable in as many drives as a DVD+R? No, because DVD+RW has lower reflectivity than DVD+R. You’ll have to try and see if it works in your drives/players.

Thank you so much!
That was what I feared…

Also, be aware that RW discs cost more and have a much shorter shelf life that +R discs.

What version of Nero are you using? I know from Nero 6, I was able to use my DVD+RW as a Data DVD disc …But as for burning movie backup I would just go with regular DVD+R or DVD+R DL and convert to booktype DVD-ROM to make it compatible with standalone players.
