Thought i would start a thread showing some USB flash drive results for anyone thinking of buying on of these, they then have a rough idea of the drives speed.

Heres the Random access times…

Software used HD Tach (free version), long bench (32 zones) was used.

Cruzer Crossfire 0.7ms
Datatraveler Mini Fun 9.7ms (although running a second test just after the first its 4.2ms)

My results for the 1GB Kingston DataTraveler: http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=210707 (Bargain Basement).

Test rig: Abit KV7, Mobile XP @ 2.2GHz, 2GB Ultra PC3200 @ DDR333, WinXP on 400GB Seagate 7200.8.

What do combined index and endurance index mean and how are they computedÉ

And I`m perplexed: the Datatraveler has a higher combined index score than the Cruser, yet you consider the Kingston device slower.

How does storage capacity affect your results. One stick is bigger than the other.

I`m considering buying either the Sandisk Cruser 2G or the Datatraveler 2G. I want to use it as a ReadyBoost drive. Which would be better and why.
