Upgrading DVD Hard Disk Recorders

Hello All,

Glad to have found you and to be a member here.

I’m no techno-fiend you should understand so frequently find myself confused by the pace of technological change.

I have one question just now though: can anyone tell me if it is feasible to change the hard disk on my Philips DVDR3300H Recorder for a larger unit?

I was thinking of picking up a 250GB drive - or even larger.

Thanks,

Charles Matthews

Yes you can. You can use any IDE preformatted in FAT32! Just have to be handy with a screw driver. Don’t go over 320GB for the power requirements change there afterwards and could mess up the powersupply. Welcome to the forum.

And you Sir are indeed a gentleman. Thanks both for the answer and the extra detail to the advice.

Shame I didn’t know about this site before I bought the thing; this is the third serious piece of Philips kit I’ve bought; I doubt I’ll buy anything else from them.

I’m afraid that doesn’t sound right to me and I have never heard of a successful do-it-yourself Philips 3300H hard drive upgrade. What evidence do you have that it is FAT32 formatted? My understanding is that you need specialist Philips software to format the hard drive.
