Upgrade/sound problem

Hi
Just upgrade my PC. Part of this involved changing mobo.

BFG-680I BFG Nvidia 680I SLI Socket 775 DDR2 GB Lan SATA II Raid 7.1Channel
Audio Firewire

Everything is fine except no sound.
Note I only have stereo speakers (mounted in monitor).
All s/w implies all is as should be.
But sound output is SPDIF.
I guess this is my problem, but can’t see a way to sort it.
OS is Vista 32 bit.

Rest of upgrade.
1 x IL-E6600 Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2 x 2.4Ghz 4Mb Cache 1066 FSB Dual Core

1 x CSR-X642G5 Corsair XMS6400 2GB DDR2 (2x1GB) 800Mhz Non-ECC

1 x BFG-88GTS BFG GeForce 8800GTS 640MB HDCP Enabled Dual DVI PCI Express
(500MHz Core Clock) (1600MHz Memory Clock) (1200MHz Shader Clock)

4 x Western Digital Caviar SE16 250Gb 16Mb Cache Hard Disk Drive SATAII 300MB/s <8.9ms 7200rpm - OEM

I don’t think you can use SPDIF with those speakers.(?)

Hi
Yep That’s my feeling. But how do I change this. Is is software related. There appears to be a fault on the CD that came with mobo. But Vista installed all the drivers.

I’m not sure how to help as i don’t have that sound card/mobo/OS/software. Maybe someone else could help more. Sorry

Why not use the analog sound outputs?

Grab new drivers over at www.nvidia.com ?
If it doesnt work well I guess you have to live with nForce (why on earth you choose it over Intel)…

Hi
MetalSlayerX. That’s just it. Nothing.
DiiZzY. OK tried there. Went to BFG Tech 1st.
For whatever reason it’s sorted I now have sound.
Unfortunately one of the WD HD’s has failed on me after a couple of days. So much for reliability. :a
