Unusual issue across multiple burners... LG most recent

I’m fairly certain that I have a post regarding this issue (or two), but this is a new burner, so I figure I would make a new thread.

For the past SEVERAL months, and through three BDR burners, I have had the same issue. The burner appears to burn, but there is nothing on the disc, as if it is on test mode. The media is compatible with the burner (PHILIP-R04-000), but this also happens with more reliable media as well (TDK & Verbatim tested as well)

So, it began with my first burner (LITEON iHOS 112) doing it, then I got a new iHOS, then the LG HL-DT-ST BD-RE WH14NS40, upgraded all of them to the most recent firmware, downgraded the two liteons, LG was on the same version, researched; found SPTD (SCSI Pass Through Direct) could be the issue, uninstalled SPTD, still didn’t solve it, so then I reformatted windows today, and even without any kind of cd emulation software (besides DT) or other burner tools (which also burned like it was in test mode) I did a test bluray burn in ImgBurn; and still the same results, no data on the media, but it acts as though it’s burning something.

Could it be DT? I didn’t install SPTD with DT though, and it did work once before with DT installed.

Maybe it is in test mode, I don’t know. But I’m about ready to just give up on ever fixing this issue. Is there anything I can do, maybe a program that tells you if it is in a permanent test mode or something?

Meanwhile, I’m going to try another test in ‘Safe Mode’ and see if it works, if that’s the case, it could be windows corruption of some kind -_-.

iHOSxyz is a reader only, and cannot write. iHBSxyz can read & write to BD/DVD/CD. iHESxyz can read BD, read & write to DVD/CD. Did you mean iHBS112? (There is no iHOS112 that we know of).

Now, as for your LG…

When you reformatted, did you try before installing DT?
Did you try another burning tool besides ImgBurn, like maybe creating a test data disc with OptiDriveControl? Or making a real disc using a software package from Nero, Roxio, Cyberlink, etc?
Can you completely uninstall DT and try?

Ah yes, IHBS, sorry. And I have tried ImgBurn, Nero, CCD, BW, all produce the same results for BDR’s. CD and DVD optical media works fine though, just seems to be Bluray issue. No, I installed DT first. Thinking I may do another format and install nothing but ImgBurn first.

And you have tried multiple images (aka different data) and it’s always the same? Is there a “burn ring” physically on the disc? Have you tried the “burned” discs on a different computer and verified that they are indeed empty?

I have used various BD images.

I just reformatted again, created a sys image, installed nothing but ImgBurn, tried; and problem persists, restored from image, installed nero, tried; and problem persisted. Always an error during the lead-in. I’m going to try and buy another Verbatim disc and see if that helps.
