Long time forum troll, first time poster. I’ve searched for this, but haven’t come up with anything solid on this error. I get this when I try to burn a DVD with imgburn. I can burn CDs with no problems.

here is the log…

Can anyone more knowledgeable than I am give me any clues as to what’s going on here? I’m thinking the burner is trashed. Thanks in advance.

Check for a firmware update for that drive. General rule of thumb is to burn at half the rated speed of the blank disc, IE, 8X burn @4X, 16X burn @8X. Also suggest using Verbatim blank media.

#3

I normally use Verbatim 16X discs, but the drive stopped recognizing them and I wanted to try some old Memorex I had laying around. The drive saw the disc, so I went ahead with the burn, mainly so I could get the log to post.

Where can I get newer firmware for this drive? I’ve only seen 1.02 unless I just missed something. Thanks again

that is the latest from LG site. drive might be going bad as its a few years old now.

#5

That’s what I figured. Already looking for a replacement. I’ve had the drive since December 05. Any suggestions on which drive I should look at?

This might help.

Bad media…
Bad idea:

I 22:56:33 Write Speed: MAX

Right, like I said, I normally use the Verbatims and burn at 4x. The drive stopped recognizing the Verbs. It saw the Memorex disc and I just left it at Max speed. I mainly wanted to get the error log so I could post it here. Just wanted some thoughts on what could be going on and I suspect the drive is crapping out.

I’m looking at a Pioneer 216 series. Anyone have any thoughts on these?
