Here is an idea, how about offering music in a lossless format? FLAC ring a bell? That way, if I want to listen to music in lossy format, I can always convert it and still retain the original quality.

My guess is they’ll do that after sales of lossy files levels off and they’re looking for a way to sell us the same songs again. Won’t do any good until they start mastering it properly. Look up loudness war and loudness race to see what I’m talking about.

The casual user would have no idea what FLAC is. It’s also limited on compatibility with most gadgets. They won’t be making it available any time soon.
