The European Union and several popular cellphone manufacturers have agreed to use a mini-USB standard for charging all phones.

Universal standards should be in place by 2010, two years ahead…

I would love to see universal chargers for every portable device. There is no reason why my cell phone, PDA, GPS, bluetooth headset, and digital camera shouldn’t all be using the same mini USB charger.

I am not sure whether they will be allowed not to include a charger with the new devices, but i wouldn’t be surprized really if they will do it anyways. Oh well i guess i acan live with the extra 4-5E expense given that it will be compatible even with my electric razor :stuck_out_tongue:

I suppose all the other manufacturers which are not mentiioned will follow later?

They will probably include this universal charger with the handset.
