I guess it’s on another partition?

Here try these links:

I have a feeling this one might work, take ownership of that bastard!

If not, try these.

I have had this problem several times under windows XP pro. I havent isolated the cause of it yet, but essentially what is happening is that a local admin has no rights to change the files in question, however a domain administrator can erase the files through explorer from any other computer on the network. I know this isnt much help for those who do not have a windows domain at home.

ps. This is a good excuse to get a simple domain up and running at home. I use a simple nt 4.0 server setup running exchange server to consolidate my emails in a central location. This is great if you use multiple computers, as now all your emails will be available anywhere on your network.

This also adds an extra layer of security, especially if you have a wireless router, so that you have several layers of protection from wandering vandals

Weeeeeeeee!

Seriously though, glad we could help and get the problem fixed.
That one was a real pickle!

If you have your drive formatted with NTFS you may want to go get NTFSDOS Pro. That will let you see, navigate and delete the files in question. Unfortunately, the trial is read-only.

The problem has already been fixed buddy

still got massive amounts of files that are unmovable according to defragment… that’s a bugger =)

Which de-fragger? Which files? Some of those may be system files or others which should not be moved and the de-fragger is aware of this.

it’s just the windows XP defragment program

The files in question are random, they’re mostly movies n such, it’s my storage disc. So no system files or something. Unless maybe they are somehow in read only mode or so, could check but don’t think so.
