Unable to get SOHW-1633S (BSOS) to write MCC003 @ 12x

I’m unable to get SOHW-1633S, using firmware BSOS, to write Verbatim’s DVD+R 8x (MCC003) @ 12x speed. Although my LG drive writes and recognizes the media fine at 12x.

I’m used the OmniPatcher to select 12x on the media & i’ve disabled ‘Dynamic Write-speed Off’ using the registry update from Nero’s site, but still no success.

Also I’m using the latest version of Nero (
What else could be done — or is there anyone else writing 12x with these Verbatims? This is all I use because I’ve had nothing but success with them for the most part, but getting the drive to write to them at 12x is my last mission.

Let me know — thanks!!!

You can’t increase speed that way on 16XX drives - you have to swap to strategy supporting higher speed (MCC004?)

yes, swap the strategy with omnipatcher to MCC004. then you will even be able to write @16x.

Can you swap strategy with OmniPatcher or what?

yes, and it’s all in stickies too.

any scans for such strategy swaping?

First of all I would try to update you burner to CSTJ firmware and do een reset of your eeprom… then try again

dang it songs like more work than neccessary to reach 12x… :Z
I might just sit still and wait until another firmware update… maybe.
