Have you tried other apps? Or updating (to a legal version of) Nero because 6.0.0.0 is ancient? A more descriptive thread title would’ve been nice, too; I’ve edited it.

#3

Before i go any further to help you, i say you need update drive to brand new FW 1.57 and download newest nero 6.6.0.15, also check to see if you got crappy adaptecs aspi installed, if so remove and throw a copy of the nero apsi from nero install DIR (its last file bottom right) into your windows/system32 folder

#4

Yes. I have tried Windows Media Player, Roxio, and Unlead. All just give me an error as soon as I try burning a cd or dvd. I contacted pioneer and they told me to try to flash with firmware, which failed. Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

Josh Kotouc

#5

Which error do you get when you try to flash the drive? … its possible you need to rma the drive …

#6

First of all, update Nero. Nero version 6.0.0.0 is really outdated and bugged.

If you get an flashing error, please post the output.

#7

The error states “Failed to move to the normal mode. New revision >> PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-109 0000 05/02/04”

Any thoughts? And how would I go about rma-ing the drive?

#8

Your drive is in ‘failsafe’ mode. This usually occurs if you flashed the drive with a firmware that’s incompatible with your drive’s kernel. There are currently 4 versions of kernel for each variant of DVR-109 firmware. To repair the drive, flash again with a matched set of both firmware and kernel.

#10

Hi LasVegas.

How do I know which are the correct versions?

Thanks.

J Kotouc

#11

If you got the A109XLA, this should be the link to use:
http://wwwbsc.pioneer.co.jp/cgi-bin/www1/download/file_get_e2.pl?file=DVRA09_FW157EU.EXE
It contains both firmware and kernel.

#12

Just extract the files from the .exe file allright linked to 1 post earlier. You can use Winrar 3.x for this.
Put them in the very same folder with the flasher. You can use DVRUpdate and/or DVRFlash 2.1 for flashing your drive that way.

Good Luck!

Thanks a bunch. I will give it a go!
